The vitality of towns and cities depends on their ability to adapt and generate new economic opportunities in times of crisis. Diversification of their economies is key to achieve this and, sometimes, urban spaces must be adapted to encourage new activities and opportunities. Sometimes, urban growth must re-balance the structure of the whole. And, in these cases, new spaces must be provided that allow for renewed urban life, new centrality.
